RigRules

Terms of use

Draft template. Replace [OWNER LEGAL NAME] and [STATE], and have a lawyer review before you rely on it.

What this service is

RigRules is operated by [OWNER LEGAL NAME]. It summarizes publicly available federal rules, state bills and state regulations for trucking. Summaries and state rule profiles are written by an automated AI system from the sources linked on each item.

Not affiliated with any government agency

RigRules is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) or any state agency. Official rules are those published by the government agencies linked on each item.

Not legal advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. AI-written summaries can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Before you act, read the official source linked with each item, or ask a qualified professional. You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.

The tracker

Set up the tracker before you drive, and do not handle your phone while driving. Federal rules limit commercial drivers to hands-free use of a mounted phone, and many states have their own limits. The tracker is designed to run hands-free once started. Location detection depends on your device's GPS and can be wrong near state lines. Your location is processed on your device and is not sent to us.

Subscriptions and automatic renewal

Paid plans are subscriptions that renew automatically at the price shown when you subscribed (monthly, or yearly if you chose the yearly plan) and are charged to the payment method you gave at checkout, until you cancel. Before you subscribe we ask you to agree to these renewal terms, and after you subscribe we email a confirmation with your plan, its price and how to cancel.

Cancel any time, online: sign in on your account page and choose "Manage billing or cancel." Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refunded for partial periods. If we change the price, we will tell you by email before the change applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first.

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card or bank account number.

Emails

Subscribers can choose to get an email when rules change in their states. Every such email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn them off on your account page. We also send emails you need to use the service, such as sign-in links and billing confirmations.

Limits of liability

The service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, [OWNER LEGAL NAME] is not liable for fines, losses or damages arising from use of, or reliance on, the information provided. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before a claim.
